Michael Goodman, MD has
practiced Gynecology, Pelvic Support and Vulvovaginal Aesthetic Surgery, Perimenopausal
Medicine, Health Enhancement, Sexology and Bone Densiometry in Davis, CA, since
2000. Prior to that, after training at Stanford University, he was in private
practice on the Mendocino Coast and worked as a consultant and Hospitalist in the San
Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. One of the early pioneers in the field of
Advanced Operative Laparoscopy, he has presented numerous times at medical meetings,
authored papers, and taught the subject at seminars in the 1980s and 1990s.
Dr. Goodman is an experienced Pelvic and Genital
Plastic Surgeon and is Board Certified in Gynecology, an elected member of the Society of
Reproductive Surgeons and is accredited as an Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon by the
Accreditation Council on Gynecologic Endoscopy. He has been elected as a member of
the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He is a trained and Accredited Clinical
Bone Densiometrist and is a 7-year NAMS-Certified Menopausal Practitioner and
Clinician. He is an independent, not beholden to insurance companies or health plans
-- his only clients are his patients.
Dr. Goodman is one of the few vulvovaginal aesthetic surgeons who also
conducts research. He is well-known and highly regarded in his field, having
authored essays ("Vulvo-Vaginal Aesthetics") and peer-reviewed literature in
major medical journals (Journal of Sexual Medicine, and Obstetrics and
Gynecology). He is the author of the first chapter on Female Genital Plastic
Surgery ever to appear in a U.S. medical textbook (the new Female Reproductive and
Sexual Medicine, due out in 2009. He is in the process of authoring a major
review of the field, to be published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, and is
the co-ordinating Principal Investigator of a large, 10-center outcome study of
vulvovaginal surgery, with ~400 procedures, to be published in 2009. A second study
of the psycholoical and sexual health of women seeking vulvovaginal aesthetic surgery is
presently collecting data.
Dr. Goodman was recently quoted in Time
magazine ("Plastic Surgery Below the Belt," 11/19/08) and in
the February 2009 issue of Glamour Magazine. Additionally, Dr. Goodman is a
peer reviewer for the Journal of Sexual Medicine as well as the International
Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health.

average 25-50% lower than other surgical facilities. All procedures are performed by
Dr. Goodman personally, not by hired staff or physicians-in-training.

OUT-OF-TOWN PATIENTS:
Coming From A Distance?
Dr. Goodman encourages a face-to-face" consult prior to surgical scheduling, but a
formal complete telephone consult with your on-line or hard copy photo review will suffice
for far-out-of-town patients (~ 1/3 of Dr. Goodman's surgery patients live > 50-75
miles away, many from other states...) Thereafter, consults may be conducted by telephone.
Easy access Sacramento International Airport is 25 min from the office and is served by
most major carriers, including Southwest. Patients may commute for the day; the office
will arrange discounted overnight accomodations if desired.
